What is an AQI?

- an index on a scale from 0-500 for reporting daily air quality.
- tells you how clean or polluted your air is and what associated health effects might be a concern for you.
- focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air.

How does an AQI work?

- The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern.
- Scientisis calculate the AQI by analyzing the concentration of a dangerous chemical.
- Scientists set the safest maximum AQI at 100. Numbers above that could result in serious public health issues.
